Why it helps to be slightly delulu to do PR

23.02.2024

Appearing in national newspapers, magazines, podcasts, TV or radio as a small business owner, entrepreneur or talent, can seem intimidating and slightly daunting too. Hello imposter syndrome.

Labelling yourself as THE expert, THE founder, THE first person to launch xyz, can make you question your credentials. Here’s the secret.

Being slightly delusional will work in your favour. Yes credentials are essential, but having the confidence to back yourself and put yourself out there will ultimately determine your success.

Remember, journalists are looking for spokespeople like you, every day. So don’t wait until you feel like an ‘expert’ to start acting like one. Your unique perspective and experiences are valuable.

After all, every expert or spokesperson you admire also did their first interview at some point.
