“Advertising is when you say how great you are. PR is when other people say how great you are. PR is better.” — Guy Kawasaki.
PR is used to build and maintain your brand’s positive image and reputation. Rather than advertising, which is paid for, PR aims to do this by ‘earning it’. The thing is, anyone can do this!
PR is often more credible than advertising as it is an endorsement by a third party and this is done by building relationships with journalists. As the saying goes… ‘ad is what you pay for, PR is what you pray for’
PR is a longterm commitment, it requires building and cultivating relationships over time and it will also be critical in times of crisis.
